Text Scorch – Your AI Dragon Wingmate
Scorch is here for you 24/7 as an AI-powered texting chatbot. This service can support you, answer your questions about Minnesota State Moorhead, and will communicate important information. Scorch will also check in throughout the semester with questions to gauge how you’re doing.
To receive and send text messages to Scorch, make sure your contact information is accurate. As long as your cell phone number is current, Scorch will text you, and you’ll be able to text Scorch back.
To check and update your cell phone number:
- Visit myMSUM.
- Review your mobile number in your Student Success Snapshot.
- Mobile number is not correct? Email your updated number to scorch@mnstate.edu.
Text Scorch FAQs
Scorch will send undergraduate Dragons a welcome message at the beginning of each semester. After that, you will receive occasional check-in messages from Scorch.
Sample text message from Scorch at the beginning of the semester:
When you receive a text from Scorch, save the number in your contacts. Reply to a message from Scorch to start chatting. Scorch can only chat with current undergraduate students.
Text Scorch any questions about Minnesota State Moorhead. Examples include:
- How can I register for classes?
- Where can I find information about counseling services?
- How can I get help with classes?
- Who can help me with a hold on my account?
Scorch will reply with helpful resources. If Scorch doesn’t know the answer, your question will be routed to someone who can help.
Scorch would hate to see you go, but if you don't want to interact with the chatbot, you can choose to not respond or can opt-out of receiving future texts by replying STOP.
If you still have a text from Scorch on your phone, you can simply reply START or UNSTOP top opt in again. If you no longer have the texts, text START to 1.844.985.3264
