Welcome to the Dragon Community: Nicole Larry
As the youth outreach coordinator, Nicole's focus is getting K-12 students on campus and providing them with a positive experience. Nicole coordinates things like College for Kids & Teens, Scrubs Camp, and campus tours.
Q: What do you love about MSUM?
A: I love the size of MSUM. It is such a good community, and I have always felt really welcomed here. Coming back after being a student showed me proof of the connections that I made as a student; it was a full circle moment.
Q: What's one thing you are learning now, and why is it important?
A: As an elementary art teacher, I never really got to learn as much of the office skills that I am learning now. There is a lot more involved with the coordinating and documenting, so there are a lot of little things that I am learning in the digital space.
Q: What did you like about working with our College for Kids & Teens program?
A: I have had the opportunity to work with the program for the past six years as an ambassador, and now I am running the program, which is a crazy feeling. Honestly, it was one of the best jobs I have ever had. I loved being able to see all the different teaching styles, and I like having the freedom of choosing what I want to teach.
Q: If you could travel to any place in the world, where would it be and why?
A: I would like to go to Alaska and see the northern lights in full color.
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: I like to walk my dog, read, paint, or just hang out with my husband.
Q: If you could only have three apps on your smartphone, what would they be?
A: Spotify, my camera app, and the phone call app.
